Physical Oceanographic Distributed Active Archive Center (PO.DAAC) manages and distributes satellite data and related information in support of research and applied sciences pertaining to physical oceanography and climate science. It also provides state-of-the-art tools and services to make its data archive easily accessible and usable across a broad set of data consumers.

The Early Detection Research Network (EDRN) is an initiative of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) that brings nationwide institutions together to accelerate the translation of biomarker information into clinical applications and to evaluate cancer in its earliest stages for cancer risk.
Airborne Cloud Computing Environment
The Airborne Cloud Computing Environment (ACCE) provides a multi-mission data system environment for Airborne instruments as part of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory's Earth Science Airborne Program. A primary focus of the effort is the deployment of a reusable cloud capability for sub-orbital instruments providing process control and data management services at low-cost, and low-risk, with a predictable, scalable cost model.
Earth System Grid Federation
The Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF) is an international collaboration of Earth Sciences data centers that includes groups from NASA, NOAA, NSF and partner agencies in Europe, Asia and Australia. ESGF manages a global infrastructure of federated nodes that distribute model output and observations for climate change research, including the IPCC assessment reports.
Earthquake Data Enhanced Cyber-Infrastructure for Disaster Evaluation and Response
The Earthquake Data Enhanced Cyber-Infrastructure for Disaster Evaluation and Response (E-DECIDER) provides decision support for earthquake disaster management and response utilizing remote sensing data and NASA modeling software. It provides both long-term planning information for disaster management decision makers and short-term information following earthquake events.
QuakeSim is a solid Earth science framework for modeling and understanding earthquake and tectonic processes. QuakeSim focuses on modeling the interseismic process through various boundary element, finite element, and analytic applications.
Advanced Rapid Imaging and Analysis
The Advanced Rapid Imaging and Analysis (ARIA) Center for Natural Hazards aims to bring geodetic imaging capabilities to an operational level in support of local, national, and international hazard response communities. It will provide imaging products in near real-time that can improve situational awareness for disaster response, and automated imaging and analysis capabilities.
The EarthCube conceptual design project, "A Scalable Community-Driven Architecture" aims to serve as the blueprint for the definition, construction, and deployment of both existing and new components to ensure that they can be unified and integrated into an evolutionary national infrastructure for EarthCube.
XDATA is a Big Data initiative sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Arlington, VA. It is a research effort to develop new computational techniques and open-source software tools for processing and analyzing big data, motivated by defense needs.
Megacities Carbon Project
Megacities Carbon Project is developing and testing robust methods for assessing carbon emissions and applying rapid improvements in measurement technology to monitor the atmospheric trends of carbon attributed to the world’s largest cities. The project is a federation of research collaborations with efforts underway in Los Angeles and Paris as well as planning for Sao Paulo and other megacities. Vesta Trek is a free, web-based application that provides detailed visualizaitons of the asteroid Vesta, one of the largest asteroids in our solar system. Data gathered from multiple instruments aboard NASA's Dawn spacecraft have been complied into Vesta Trek's user-friendly set of tools including interactive maps, 3-D printer-exportable topography, and standard keyboard gaming controls for flying high or low above Vesta's surface.
Mars Trek provides an exciting way for students, citizen scientists, and the public to explore some of Mars’ most spectacular landforms as well as NASA areas of operation on Mars’ surface. Data gathered from multiple instruments aboard multiple NASA Mars missions provide diverse views for Mars Trek’s user-friendly set of tools including interactive maps, 3-D printer-exportable topography, and standard keyboard gaming controls for flying high or low above Mars’ surface.
